“Traveling light means trusting God with the burdens you were never intended to bear.”

This statement resonates in my mind and heart for awhile. It speaks of the truth that we can live in freedom from guilt, anger, arrogance, insecurities, prejudice, loneliness, disappointments and so on.

“For the sake of those you love, travel light. For the sake of the God you serve, travel light. For the sake of your own joy, travel light. There are certain weights in life you simply cannot carry. Our Lord is asking us to set them down and trust him.

It has come to my attention that I am abusing God’s grace in terms of how I neglect my body as the temple of God. I noticed how I gained so much weight by eating and eating without exercise or even lifting finger. It felt so bad and I feel I was a disgrace. But, I thank God for the forgiveness that’s always available to us.

I now have a fresh mandate to look after my body or my total well-being. This time, I ask for more grace God to take action and EXERCISE. So help me God!

It’s so easy to be selfish in fact, we are born that way. I remember someone taught me about survival – thinking of yourself and your need before others.

There’s one incident I vividly remember when I started working. During lunch break, we gather in our small pantry room and eat. One girl brings her home-cooked lunch everyday and doesn’t share until she is done with her food. Her mom specificially taught her not to share or give out her food to others unless she is finished or doesn’t like it anymore. Which is fine, right?

Some may be offended but for others, it’s fine. Logically speaking, it’s her food and she is entitled to eat them and do whatever she decides with it.

But the Bible speaks of us and our need for community. I learned in life, I wouldn’t be able to fulfill God’s Will in my life apart from the people aroud me – family, friends, churchmates, colleagues and etc.

Lord, help me not to be selfish in all circumstances. That I will not think of myself all the time but include others as well. And that, I will go beyond myself and have compasssion for others.

A repost from P.Steve:

Creating a Healthy Corporate Culture (in a Church)
I think I blogged about this sometime in the past few years, but since I can’t remember for sure, you probably can’t either.

Yesterday I spoke to 30 of our Victory-Manila and Every Nation Philippines admin staff about the corporate culture we are trying to create. Here’s the culture we intentionally build in our Manila-based Every Nation, Victory-Manila, Lifebox (campus ministry) and Real Life Foundation admin/mgt/ops teams.

1. A MISSIONAL CULTURE: The Passionate Vision of a World-wide Church-planting and Missions Movement.

- missional simple means to think and act like a missionary

- we must think and act globally, not just locally

- we must realize that we face spiritual opposition

- our work, evangelism & church planting, is spiritual and requires a miracle & the grace of God

- if satan was able to stop the Apostle Paul at times (1Thess2:18) then he will certainly try to stop us

- all of the above applies to everyone working in our organization whether they are on front lines as a campus missionary or in the office working on financial reports

- “the share of the men who stayed with the supplies is the be the same as that of him who went down to the battle. All will share alike.” –David (1Samuel 30:24)

2. A PROFESSIONAL CULTURE: The Organizational Excellence of a Multinational Corporation.

- A professional culture means the way we handle finances and facilities must be at the highest international standards

- A professional culture starts with a biblical view of work

- Work is a blessing not a curse.

- Originally work was part of man’s purpose, not punishment for sin (Genesis 2:15)

- Man was made to work

- We rest one day so we can work the other six. We do not work so we can rest.

- If we have a biblical theology of work, developing a professional culture will be relatively simple

3. A RELATIONAL CULTURE: The Caring Atmosphere of a Church Family.

- how do we create a culture that is both professional and relational?

- The starting point is to acknowledge that churches and ministries are in the “people business”

- People matter to God, so they must matter to us

- Jesus died for people not for organizations, logos, policies and vision statements

- Learning to forgive is essential to creating and maintaining a relational culture

If leaders spend more time and energy building a healthy corporate culture based on biblical values, then we will spend less time enforcing policies and rules. I am not sure we always succeed, but that is what we are trying to do.

I received a timely reminder today and thought of capturing it by posting it here.

“God’s voice is never frantic. When you hear desperate thoughts, you can know it is not God speaking. You can wait in confident humility.”

“Trust God’s plan rather than what you think is your need.”

The boys treated me for an early birthday dinner at Piazetta Trattoria at 936 Eglington West. The food were superb! We remembered our cousin Raj while we were enjoying the food and thought of bringing him there when we get the chance in the future. I bet that he will like it there too.

I ordered Osso Bucco, lasagna for J and whole wheat pizza for G. It feels like your eating an italian home cooked dinner with an ambience. We finished it off with two delicious dessert – Tartufo and their home made Tiramisu. Everything was perfect!

We will definitely come back soon!!!

I will pray and fast because I DELIGHT, DESIRE and am DEVOTED to Him.

DELIGHT is about excitement, fascination and craving.

DESIRE is having the right focus – spending time with God. Focusing on what we are receiving instead of what we are giving up.

DEVOTION expressed thru fasting deepens our passion for God. It allows us to continually grow and mature in our relationship with Him.

We fast not so He will hear us, but for us to hear Him. Not for Him to focus on us, but for us to focus on Him. To train our soul and flesh to be still and to know that above all, He is God and the Lover of our souls.
